Kaamospelit - folk music in Vantaa 2012

22nd Kaamospelit, the Vantaa folk music week, is held 10.-18.11.2012.

Program is quite Nordic again. We are going to take influences from Nu-Nordic music scene also in forthcoming years. Here you'll find the festival program 2012 in English. More information about the artists, the history of the festival etc. in Finnish on our website.

YHTÄ SOITTOA


Folk music groups from Vantaa and the neighbour cities and groups from the Vantaa music institute perform in the shopping centre.


Sunday 11.11. at 12 St. Lawrence's church (Pyhän Laurin kirkko), Kirkkotie 45
FOLK SONG CHURCH


Church service, where the songs are sung to the melodies of familiar folk songs. In Finnish. Vantaan kansanpelimannit accompanies.

CHURCH CONCERT: Fiuleja Ensemble


Musicians of Fiuleja Ensemble have started playing fiddle together already 25 years ago in the Näppärit-group founded by Mauno Järvelä in Kaustinen.

KAAMOSCLUB: Maria Kalaniemi & Timo Alakotila


Maria Kalaniemi and Timo Alakotila are two of the most recognised musicians of the folk music scene in Finland. They have played in various different ensembles and concerts around the world and are pioneers in the field of new folk music. On the year 2012 they celebrate their 20 years career together as musicians with concerts and with new CD.

CHILDRENS' CONCERT & WORKSHOP: Eppel & Peppel


Story chest


Eppel & Peppel (Juulia Salonen & Kirsi Ojala) combines folk music plying, singing and story telling. The performance is based on old Finnish fairy tales and introduces ancient instruments.

KAAMOS JAM AND DANCE SESSION


In the jam session Finnish-German band Schäng Blasius Finnland Experience will play few sets, but otherwise the stage is open for everyone. Jam session is hosted by Perinnearkku association.

Ilona Korhonen will immerse in the core of the old singing style, runolaulu: invent, modify, revise and improvise.

Maija Kauhanen has a band of one woman: kantele of SaarijŠrvi, singing and percussion. What all one musician can create?
